CHRIS SLIGH TAKES OVER CHRISTIAN AC RADIO WITH “EMPTY ME”
3/24/2008
As the current American Idol season moves forward with their top 12,
Season 6 finalist Chris Sligh’s debut single “Empty Me” is making a huge impact at Christian AC
radio and Sligh is pounding the pavement all across the U.S. In just 4 weeks after being the #1 Most
Added track of the week, the single has debuted in the R&R AC Top 30 (#29 Monitor and #30
Indicator) with 32 stations already spinning it. “Empty Me” is New and Active at R&R CHR as well, all
of which gives great momentum to Sligh’s solo debut, Running Back to You, which will bow
nationally on May 6th on Brash Music.
With 25 cities still remaining on his promo tour, Sligh has already made 30 stops in several markets
including Atlanta, Dallas, Orlando, Houston, Baltimore, D.C., Tulsa and his hometown of Greenville
where his visits included the K-LOVE morning show at The Rivers Ranch, various top morning radio
shows, and TV opps including Good Day Dallas, the CW Network show The Daily Buzz, Good Day
Tulsa, FOX 45 Baltimore’s Morning News, CBN News, XM Satellite Radio and more. He also hit Los
Angeles where he taped a performance for an upcoming episode of Idol Extra where he was
interviewed by Access Hollywood, EXTRA, Fox News, In Touch Weekly and others. This week Sligh
will hit the Big Apple and visit Star 99.1 as well as BETTER TV, Beliefnet.com and ABC Radio, with
upcoming cities to include Cleveland, Chicago, St Louis and Birmingham.
Needless to say, feedback on Sligh and his single is nothing less than stellar. WONU/Chicago’s
Seth Herd recently stated that the “Chris Sligh album is really, really good. After a few listens, I'm
putting it up there as one of the best albums I've heard this year, secular or Christian.”
After nearly 2 hours on the air with Jeff Cruz and the WPOZ morning show in Orlando, visiting with
the staff and attending their weekly Bible study, Cruz remarked , “It was amazing! I have since been
listening to the whole CD ‘Running Back to You’ and it is truly one of the most complete Christian
projects I have ever heard. It actually reminds me of the debut from Casting Crowns. Every single
song could be a huge hit and if early reaction to ‘Empty Me’ is any indication, several of them will! ”
Named as one of Entertainment Weekly’s “Best Idol Auditions Ever,”
( http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20007164_20008532_20174767,00.html), Sligh auditioned for
American Idol more or less on a whim. To his surprise, his performance swept him onto a fast track
to the final rounds. His willingness to take chances, his ironic wit, and his startlingly powerful vocals
embedded him into the popular imagination, while his distinctive blend of talent, humor,
confidence, and unpredictability led to an exchange with Simon Cowell that delighted the other
judges, host Ryan Seacrest, and much of America.

Idol commentator for Entertainment Weekly online, Sligh operates on a three week rotating
schedule with two other commentators (Jon Peter Lewis and Nadia Turner), Sligh has written
commentaries through the lens of his experiences on American Idol; from comments about the
singers, the judges, the set, and more, including any relatable anecdotes or stories from personal
Idol experiences. Check them out at: http://www.ewonline.com
